Access to Urgent & Specialist Medicines Service.
The purpose of the Urgent & Specialist Medicines Service is to improve access to urgent and emergency medicines, some of which may not be standard stock for community pharmacies, during normal and Bank Holiday working hours in the community setting.
All accredited pharmacy providers will stock a minimum stock level of a locally agreed range of urgent and emergency medicines (see service specification for a full list).
The service aims to:
- support access for service users to urgent and emergency medicines, including End of Life medicines when they are required, at short notice (during normal working hours)
- support people, carers, and clinicians, by providing them with information and advice on medicines and to provide referral to other sources of assistance when appropriate.
