General practice (GP) and online consultations. Online consultation forms allow you to reach your GP when you are in pain and need medical advice

General practitioners (GPs) treat all common medical conditions and refer patients to hospitals and other medical services for urgent and specialist treatment.
They focus on the health of the whole person combining physical, psychological and social aspects of care.
Find a GP surgery near you. The NHS website has information on GP appointments and how to register with a GP.
Online services
As well as face-to-face and telephone appointments, the majority of GP practices also offer online services 24-7. To book appointments and request sick notes download the NHS App on your smartphone.
You can also save time and consult with your GP practice online.
When you are feeling unwell and require medical advice, you can fill out an online consultation form providing the answers that your GP needs to know, in order to receive the medical advice you require.
Online consultation forms have multiple choice questions making it a convenient way of providing your GP with the information they need. You can fill out an online consultation form from wherever you are in order to digitally contact your GP.
Visit your GP’s website to access their online services.
Benefits of online consultations
There are multiple benefits of online consultations:
- You can fill out the form from the safety of your own home
- The form consists of multiple-choice questions that are clear to fill out
- You can get health advice from your GP practice at a time that is convenient for you, rather than ringing up your GP surgery during working hours.
Visit your GP’s website to access their online services.
Evening and weekend appointments
GPs now provide a range of services online and outside of regular opening hours.
Routine appointments with a GP or practice nurse are available in the evening, at weekends and on bank holidays. Contact your practice to book an appointment.
Out-of-hours
GP services are available 24 hours a day. Outside normal surgery hours, you can still phone the GP surgery, but you’ll usually be directed to the out-of-hours service.
Alternatively, go online via NHS 111 (24 hours a day, seven days a week) for medical advice and treatment.
