NHS Devon is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

This accessibility statement applies to www.onedevon.org.uk.

The website is written to be as easy-to-read and simple to navigate as possible.

Some of our content is technical and is sometimes aimed at medical professionals; we use technical terms where there is no easier wording we could use without changing what the text means.

The website features software (Reach Deck) that provides web content in a variety of formats to websites made more accessible with easy speech, reading and translation tools including:

  • Text-to-speech with choice of reading speeds and languages
  • Translation into other languages
  • On-screen text magnifier for users with visual impairments
  • Convert text to audio files
  • Screen mask that blocks on-screen clutter that lets readers focus on text being read
  • Web page simplifier that makes content easier to read

To use the Reach Deck, click the blue rounded square titled “Speak” on any page and select the required feature.

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reason(s):

  • WCAG 1.4.3 Contrast (Minimum) – Some documents have elements that do not have sufficient colour contrast. This includes elements of the page titles and subheadings.
  • WCAG 2.4.2 Page titled – Some page titles do not reflect the topic or purpose of the document
  • WCAG 1.1.1 Non-text content – Some documents have elements that do not have alternative text.

This statement was prepared on 28 March 2025.

The preparation of this statement and subsequent updates are based on the model accessibility statement, following an accessibility report from the Government Digital Service on 21 January 2025.

NHS Devon is currently preparing to introduce an auditing process, which will also include an accessibility audit in quarter two of 2025/26. The results of which will be actioned and published on this page.

Disproportionate Burden

Some of the historical PDF’s hosted on the site don’t meet current accessibility guidelines. However, all new documents will be checked for compliance and only uploaded once they meet the guidelines. To ensure compliance, a document outlining best practice for accessibility will be produced and circulated across the ICB.
